Shower Tile Installation in Sacramento, CA
Custom shower tile built for beauty and longevity. Walk-in showers, tub surrounds, and wet rooms — all waterproofed and tiled to the highest standard.
Custom Shower Tile That Actually Lasts
Shower tile fails for one reason: improper waterproofing. Grout cracks, caulk peels, water gets into the substrate, mold follows. We've been brought in to fix failed shower installs throughout Sacramento that were only a few years old — and the cause is always the same. Corners were cut on the waterproofing.
We don't cut corners. Every shower we build starts with a full waterproofing system — Schluter Kerdi or a comparable membrane — installed across every surface, every transition, every corner. The tile on top is the beautiful part. The waterproofing underneath is why it lasts.
Shower Tile Services We Offer
Walk-In Shower Tile Installation
Zero-entry, curbless, and curbed walk-in showers are our most popular Sacramento shower project. We tile floors, walls, and ceiling where applicable — and we build in the features that make a shower truly functional: linear drains, teak benches, recessed niches, and waterproof lighting cutouts.
Tub Surround Tile
Replacing that dated one-piece tub surround with real tile is one of the highest-ROI bathroom updates you can make. We demo the old surround, waterproof properly, and install your chosen tile — whether that's classic white subway or book-matched marble slabs.
Shower Pan / Floor Tile
Shower floors require slope to drain properly and anti-slip tiles for safety. We slope our mortar beds to the correct pitch, choose tiles appropriate for wet floor applications, and keep grout joints clean and sealed. No standing water. No slipping.
Shower Niches & Built-Ins
A properly waterproofed and tiled niche is a detail that elevates the whole shower. We frame, waterproof, and tile niches in a variety of sizes — single, double, and full-column — with accent or contrasting tile if desired.
Wet Room Installation
A true wet room — where the entire bathroom floor is tiled and waterproofed — is becoming a popular request in Sacramento luxury homes. We design and build wet room systems with full tanked waterproofing, linear drainage, and seamless floor-to-wall tile transitions.
Waterproofing: Our Non-Negotiable Standard
We won't tile over a substrate that isn't properly waterproofed. Every shower we build gets:
- Cement backer board or foam tile backer on all wet walls
- Full sheet waterproofing membrane across all surfaces
- Sealed seams, corners, and transitions — the failure points most contractors skip
- Pre-tile flood test where applicable
This adds time and cost compared to cutting corners — and it's exactly why our showers don't leak.

Shower Tile Questions
A standard walk-in shower tile installation takes 4–6 days: demo and waterproofing on day 1–2, tile setting on days 2–4, then cure time before grouting on day 5–6. Custom showers with niches, benches, and multiple tile types take a bit longer. We'll give you a specific schedule before we start.
For shower floors, smaller tiles (2x2, penny round, 3x3 mosaic) provide more grout lines which create natural texture and traction. Porcelain with a rated slip coefficient is our standard recommendation. We always advise against large-format tile on shower floors for safety reasons.
